Neighborhoods Crop Dusted by Low-Flying
Jet Aircraft enroute to LGA
~ View Report on Crown Heights High Asthma Rate ~
Aircraft emissions from "Jet A" fuel produces high quantities of soot and particulate matter (PM) -- the major cause of asthma in children. Read the New York City Community Air Survey Report, page 23, here and see what the American Lung Association has to say about that here. This report from the Center for Environmental Medicine, Asthma and Lung Biology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill graphically depicts how diesel fuel emissions (jet aircraft burn kerosene, similiar in hydrobarbon emission to diesel fuel) promote asthma. Environmental News details how burning these dfuels produces fine particulate matter and is implicated as a "major contributor to the high rates of asthma in children", particularly in urban areas.

On these web pages you will find Daily Decibel Charts of aircraft over Prospect Park, Bedford-Stuyvesant and Park Slope, Brooklyn en route to La Guardia.
The daily decibel readings are of aircraft en route to La Guardia Airport as they pass over Historic Park Slope, Bedford-Stuyvesant and Prospect Park. Anything over 65 dBA is illegal, but the Port Authority and FAA think that as long as they can fatten the airlines' coffers at the taxpayer's expense -- the very same taxpayers who are paying their salaries -- and get away with it, why not? Apparently, as far they are concerned, it's perfectly all right to crop dust residents of Brooklyn with toxic jet fuel emissions and subject their hearing to levels of noise scientifically proven to shorten life span and cause disease.
